11 more days

Oh November. One must buy yarn to get through you. Of course one could also eat a lot of chocolate (and to tell you the truth one has tried that too), but I recommend buying yarn. It doesn't make you fat and pimple-faced.

New sock yarn!

From left to right: Sunnyside Ellen sock yarn in shade Mermaid, Malabrigo sock yarn in shade Eggplant, from Socktopus, and Squoosh Fat Sock in shade Goldenrod.

Shiny, pretty, good-smelling new skeins… they really make the gray, rainy days feel a bit easier.

Then, to keep my little Lutheran world in balance, I dug out the box of odds and ends, and knit my boy a pair of slippers.

8-square socks for Onni

Onni hates them. He only agreed to model them because I gave him chocolate (miraculously there was some left). ”These are itchy and hot”, said the little ungrateful person. I blame November.

8-square socks for Onni

8-square socks
Pattern source: Käspaikka
Yarn: leftovers of various dk-weight yarns
Needles: 3,25 mm

Kurja, kurja marraskuu! Syytä vaan sitä, minusta tossut ovat varsin kelvot!

Its a gloomy November here too, yarn is vital isn't it! Love the slippers, I bet they are warm.

As we say in the U.S., you ain't just whistlin' Dixie. ;-)

Even though Onni hates his slippers, I think they are adorable and thrifty in the Finnish Lutheran way. :-) Hang in there! November comes but once a year.

Yes! Let's blame November for everything! I really like that idea. It's so cold, here, this morning (Coastal Maine--20's with the wind chill), that I could use some cheering up, myself. Your sock yarn is beautiful!

yarn instead of desserts - brilliant!

oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who needs to buy yarn in order to keep going. I ordered enough for a coat and a sweater today, but am not sure it'll make me feel as satisfied as I want it to. Maybe if I didn't have to go to work and could just knit and drink tea and watch movies all the time...

Love the slippers, but was also an ungrateful slipper wearer at some point, so I see Onni's point. Can someone else wear them?

Here in Florida, I need yarn to get through August (it's so hot I can't leave the house). November, however, is perfect.
I love the slippers too- silly little boy!!

Ha, ha! Lapsikin tajuaa koska häntä käytetään ylijäämälankojen loppusijoituspaikkana!

Minulla ei kyllä olisi mitään noin päheitä töppösiä vastaan, ei ei ei.

Ihania lankoja. Itse pysyttelen toistaiseksi suklaassa :-)

I feel for your son. My mother-in-law knits those 8-square slippers too, and I am the hater here: they are always wrong colour and hot, itchy and slippery. But keep on knitting these until you one day have your own daughter-in-law to knit these for :)

(Afterall, this was ment to be a positive comment. I am not trying to be mean, but almost anything that remains me of my mother-in-law raises these strong feelings in me. Sorry about that :) )

Ihana juttu ja kiva lukea täällä hihitellen sen kirvoittamia kommentteja. Mie tarviin molempia: lankaa ja suklaata. Mut oonkin marraskuussa syntynyt. Vietän viikon synttäreitä ja ostelen itelleni paaaljon lahjoja ja olen opettanut miehenkin lahjomaan runsaskätisesti.

Awww, I love November. Sorry you don't. I guess I'm enjoying it because the older I get the quicker time flies.

Hmm, I think he'll love those slippers when it gets colder! :) I love the yarn colors you purchased, especially the golden color. A great warm color for the winter months.

Thank you all for your lovely cheering comments - three more days to go! I think I can make it. :-)
